Barbara Albert

Barbara Albert first studied Theater Arts, German Language and Literature and Journalism. In 1991 she began studying in Vienna at the Film Academy to become a director and screenwriter. Her short film "The Fruit of Thy Womb" (1996) was followed by her award-winning feature film (North Skirts) (1999), which had its premiere (in competition) at the Venice Film Festival. During that same year she founded the film production company coop99 together with Jessica Hausner, Martin Gschlacht and Antonin Svoboda. Barbara Albert is presently working as a screenwriter, film director, producer and script editor. She is also a founding member and the president of the Austrian Film Academy as well as a member of the Austrian Film Museum’s Board of Directors.
